Kelly Rosenberg
Adum K-8
There are teachers and then there are angels disguised as teachers.
Mrs. Kelly Rosenberg is one of those rare, extraordinary souls who goes far beyond the classroom.
For the past month, my daughter Bella has been in the hospital. As a parent, there is nothing harder than watching your child fight battles you wish you could take on yourself. But in the middle of hospital machines, IVs, and long days, Mrs. Rosenberg brought something priceless; love, light, and normalcy.
She didn’t just send well wishes.
She showed up.
Mrs. Rosenberg came to the hospital to sit beside Bella, read to her, laugh with her, and remind her that she is still a bright, loved, kindergarten student, not just a patient in a hospital bed.
She organized her entire class to record heartwarming, loving videos filled with encouragement. She helped her students create beautiful, heartfelt cards and thoughtful goodie bags. Bella’s hospital room quickly became filled with surprises, artwork, and reminders that she was deeply missed and cherished.
Every card.
Every video.
Every small act of kindness made an enormous difference.
During one of the most difficult seasons of our lives, Mrs. Rosenberg made sure Bella felt seen, supported, and surrounded by love. She didn’t just teach academics, she taught compassion. She modeled empathy. She showed her class what it means to care for someone.
We are truly blessed and forever grateful to have such an incredible teacher in our lives.
Mrs. Rosenberg, thank you for loving our daughter like your own. Thank you for going above and beyond in ways we will never forget. You have made an impact that will last far beyond kindergarten.
You are everything a teacher should be and so much more.
I would like to nominate Ms. Kelly Rosenberg - elementary educator at Kenneth Adum K-8 school in Tampa. Ms. Roseberg has been involved in elemetary education for almost 18 years and has demonstrated a committment to teaching excellence within Hillsborough County for many years. We were first introduced to Ms. Rosenberg at Mabry Elementary and now at Adum K-8. Her educational skill and connection with her students and communication with the parents in her classrooms is unparalleled. She works diligently to support and nurture creativity, kidness, and compassion in her classrooms and works to meet each student where they are with grace - always representing and fostering a safe and nurturing enviroment for these young kids.

Lesa Kelly
Valrico Elementary
Lesa Kelly brings a distinguished depth of experience to the second-grade team at Valrico Elementary, with a career spanning over 35 years. This extensive tenure is evident in her daily interactions, where she translates decades of pedagogical knowledge into a classroom environment that is both stable and inspiring. For parents and administrators alike, her veteran presence provides a level of reassurance and professional consistency that serves as a cornerstone for the school community.
Mrs. Kelly’s primary strength lies in her sophisticated ability to tailor complex concepts to the individual needs of her students. She recognizes that second grade is a critical developmental window and masterfully explains problems and issues through multiple lenses—visual, auditory, and tactile—to ensure no student is left behind. This adaptive approach to problem-solving ensures that whether a child is struggling with a new mathematical concept or a social-emotional challenge, Mrs. Kelly has the professional repertoire to pivot her instruction until total comprehension is achieved.
The hallmarks of Mrs. Kelly’s teaching philosophy are her extreme kindness and unwavering patience. She cultivates a safe space where students feel comfortable taking academic risks, knowing they will be met with encouragement rather than frustration. Her calm demeanor, even in the face of classroom challenges, allows her to manage the class's development with a gentle but firm hand, ensuring that every student feels valued as an individual while progressing as a group.

Erin Winslow
Adum K-8
Where do we begin; she just knows what the children need and when. She is constantly in communication and always responsive and pleasan. She is a huge part of my son's world and he wants to go to school and learn and improve due to her belief in him ! She is everything wonderful in a teacher and whst she does daily exceeds a role of a teacher! She has created a classroom family!
Erin Winslow epitomizes exactly what a teacher should be. From the first day of school, she makes all of her students feel loved, capable, importan, seen and respected. She motivates and encourage. I've helped in her classroom and her students are principled and inquisitive. The environment she creates is calm and disciplined, as well as conducive for learning in a stimulating environment.
Ms. Winslow's students are excited each day to arrive to school and be in her classroom. I've never heard her speak with a raised voice and I've never seen her get flustered or frustrated. She rolls with the punches and truly finds joy through each of her students. I can tell from my son, he truly feels so lucky to be one of her students. Ms. Winslow is deserving of this prize and so much more.
Dear Selection Committee,
I am honored to nominate Ms. Erin Winslow for the Best of the Best Kindergarten Teacher award. As a parent, I can say without hesitation that Ms. Winslow has made a profound and lasting impact on our child and our family, and she represents the very best of what an educator can be.
Ms. Winslow first stood out to us on orientation night at our son’s prospective K–12 magnet school. This was the first of seven schools we toured, and each teacher briefly introduced themselves. From the moment Ms. Winslow spoke, she came across as exceptionally professional and strikingly personable. My wife and I immediately took notice.
After the main presentation, parents were assigned to a teacher-led campus tour. We were thrilled to be assigned to Ms. Winslow. As she escorted us through the school, she provided a thoughtful and thorough overview of the curriculum and programs. She brought us to the music room, Spanish class, PE gym, and media center, personally introducing us to the special area teachers along the way. She explained enrichment opportunities, after-school programs, and clearly outlined how A/B learning worked and how she implemented it in her classroom.
We ended the tour in her kindergarten classroom, where we were able to envision our young son learning and growing. On the drive home, my wife and I independently arrived at the same conclusion: Ms. Winslow was our first-choice teacher. The experience left us both excited and anxious, as this was the first of seven schools we would tour — and the bar had been set incredibly high.
As expected, none of the remaining schools left the same impression, and none of the teachers made us feel the way Ms. Winslow did. When we learned that our son had been accepted to the school, we were ecstatic — though teacher assignments had not yet been released.
That summer, our son attended a two-day orientation camp to acclimate to school. He had never attended daycare or preschool and had never been separated from us. The experience was extremely difficult for him. On the first day, his anxiety was so overwhelming that he became physically ill, and we were asked to pick him up. The same thing happened the following day.
That is when we encountered Ms. Winslow again. After hearing what was happening, she gently took our son by the hand, reassured us, and promised to spend time with him that day. Leaving him was incredibly difficult, but we trusted her.
Several hours passed with no call from the school. When we arrived for pickup, we saw our son burst through the front doors wearing a paper crown he had made, laughing and smiling with confidence. Walking behind him was Ms. Winslow, smiling reassuringly. She explained that she had spent time comforting him, helping him settle in, and integrating him with the other students.
That moment was everything. We knew then that Ms. Winslow was exactly the teacher our son needed at such a critical moment in his development.
When teacher assignments were finally released and we learned that Ms. Winslow would be his kindergarten teacher, we felt immense gratitude. Our son had already formed a bond of trust with her, and she quickly became one of the very few people he felt comfortable separating from us to be with.
From the start of the school year, Ms. Winslow demonstrated exceptional organization and leadership. She provided a clear, comprehensive, and easy-to-follow information packet that covered everything from lunch sign-ups to car line procedures and after-school programs. While many parents struggled to navigate these systems, those of us in Ms. Winslow’s class were confident and prepared — and very appreciative.
Academically, our son began the year behind his peers due to having no prior formal education. Ms. Winslow identified this early and communicated openly and frequently with us. She provided strategies, tools, apps, and recommendations to support learning at home while also giving him targeted support in the classroom.
The results were extraordinary.
By his second report card, our son had made a complete turnaround. His reading, writing, and math skills rose to an excellent level. By the third report card, he had continued to improve, now performing at a first-grade level. He eagerly raises his hand, volunteers to read aloud, and recently earned Student of the Month. Ms. Winslow shared that his progress was one of the most remarkable improvements she has seen in her career.
Most importantly, our son loves school. He loves learning. And he absolutely adores his teacher.
Ms. Winslow’s teaching style, compassion, organization, and relentless dedication to reaching every child truly sets her apart. We are forever grateful for the role she has played in our son’s growth and confidence. She didn’t just teach him academics — she helped him believe in himself.
For all these reasons and more, Ms. Erin Winslow is unquestionably deserving of the Best of the Best Kindergarten Teacher recognition. We are incredibly blessed to have her, and she is truly one of a kind.
With deepest appreciation,
Italo Gonsalves
Cares about the success of her students.

Dominique Barnes
Sessums Elementary
The picture below is of an amazing teacher, Mrs. Dominique Barnes why is she amazing you say because it takes someone with heart to take on students that others will label as challenging. My son Eddy listed in the picture along his teacher with his Nana who is a volunteer at the school has made such an amazing gain since he went into her class last year this is his second year. He's a fifth grade grader, and it breaks my heart that he will be leaving Miss Barnes class at the end of the school year. It's not easy to teach children with autism, but she does it with love and care and Eddy is truly blessed to have had her as a teacher. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am towards her and that is why I'm nominating her because she deserves this in so much more and I want to take the moment. to say thank you so much for treating our special children like if they were your own and serving them with dignity and grace and patience and above all love, you are truly a special person. Thank you for everything.

Tara Tilotta
Adum K-8
Tara Tilotta is one of the most passionate, selfless, skilled teachers you’ll find, and she truly couldn’t be more deserving of this award. Let me tell you just a little bit about how amazing she is.
First, in my personal experience with my child, who is currently in her kindergarten class, she has gone above and beyond to help him feel happy and safe. When he feels scared about lockdown, tornado, or fire drills, she lets him carry her special Curious George stuffed monkey. Recently, my kiddo had a troubling issue that has caused some fears at school. Over the last several weeks, every single morning on her way into school before 7 a.m., she sends me a pump-up video to show him to get him excited about the school day, talking about all the fun things to look forward to. And she stays in frequent contact with me to help ensure we’re on the same page.
For all of her students, she makes learning so fun and encourages inquiry and leadership. She has 5- and 6-year-olds writing biographies about Dr. Seuss or poems about Marie Curie and other leaders. She makes learning fun by decorating the room, dressing up, and creating immersive projects to help build inquiry and skills within their units, with activities like art and food projects, pretend play, parades, class parties, cultural tradition events, play centers, and experiential learning. One example is coordinating with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to teach her class about taking care of local marine animals. The following weekend after the aquarium’s hands-on presentation, we all visited the Manatee Viewing Center, where she hiked several miles with some of us (accidentally) to continue learning. In the classroom, Ms. Tilotta has bins and bins of carefully curated, organized tools and costumes for the kids to learn from and play with. She also sends an incredibly impressive weekly email blast to parents, highlighting the skills they learned along with photos of students and their creations.
One of the things she is most passionate about teaching her students is the leaders of the world who are change-makers, and how kids can do that too. She teaches about leaders during Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and beyond, and uses examples to show how they changed the world. She has a strong leader board on her classroom wall. And because the kids want to keep learning, she keeps extending lessons about these leaders.
Throughout the school year, Ms. Tilotta has a great way of getting kids talking in class that ties into the unit they’re learning about. She has Memory Monday to talk about what they did over the weekend, Tell Me Something Tuesday to develop their speaking skills, Wonder Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday to talk about something they can do for someone else, and Feel Good Friday to talk about something that made them happy.
She is so selfless that in early 2024, she cut off a foot of her hair to donate to the Children With Hair Loss organization, then teamed up with kindergarten classes to sell hair bows and raise money for the nonprofit, which provides hair replacements at no cost to children and young adults facing medically related hair loss.
Ms. Tilotta has a master’s degree in teaching reading and is in her 27th year of teaching, 21 of them in Hillsborough County and the others in Pasco County. She has been in IB schools for 13 years, helping establish two new schools with new IB programs, after beginning her teaching career at a Title 1 school. Currently, she is a Black History Bowl coach for 5th graders. She has previously served as a team lead, was named ADUM’s Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year last year, and has received numerous other awards.
Aside from working very long hours at her school, she also tutors an additional 40 hours a week before and after school and on the weekends. As a single mom putting two kids through college, both of whom attended IB schools in Hillsborough County Public Schools, she prioritizes their education. She is an incredibly hardworking mom and the best kindergarten teacher, and she is so deserving of this generous recognition.
My son’s kindergarten teacher is one of the kindest, most selfless, and genuinely humble people I have ever met. She cares deeply about the well-being and growth of every child, no matter where they are on their learning journey. She never compares, never discourages, and never makes a child feel less for not knowing something. Instead, she meets each child exactly where they are—academically, emotionally, and mentally—and helps them grow with patience and compassion.
What truly sets her apart is how invested she is, not just in her students, but in their families and the wider community. She takes the time to build meaningful connections that strengthen and support each child beyond the classroom. Because of her, my son feels confident, valued, and excited to learn.
She will always be his favorite teacher, because she has shaped him in ways that go far beyond academics—teaching lessons a six-year-old will carry for life. I am incredibly grateful that our paths crossed, and I would nominate her again and again without hesitation.

Kimberly Grimshaw
Orange Grove Elementary
Mrs. Grimshaw is an exceptional teacher whose vibrant, one-of-a-kind personality fills her classroom with warmth, excitement, and genuine joy for learning. She engages students in creative competitions that keep them motivated and excited to learn, building their confidence through every activity she designs. Each month she introduces a new, themed challenge with multiple levels so all students stay inspired and eager to participate.
My child has never been so excited for school, so motivated to complete his work, or so proud of the high grades he’s earning—and that pride is a direct reflection of her influence.
From starting the year with Archimedes, the crow perched in the back of her room who delivered challenges, to incorporating mystery callers on her vintage phone, to October’s crafted pumpkin rewards that students can trade in for real mini pumpkins to decorate for their desks, the list goes on and every month brings she invents a new challenge to keep students motivated. Her creativity truly knows no bounds.
She invests so much of her own time, energy, and money to make these magical learning experiences happen, which is why she is the most deserving teacher of the $1,000.
Mrs. Grimshaw makes learning fun, memorable, and meaningful—and she makes kids genuinely excited to come to school just to see what she’ll dream up next. In Mrs. Grimshaw's class, fourth grade isn't just another school year, it's an experience!
There is one sentence in there that looks grammatically off: “the list goes on and every month brings she invents a new challenge...”

Teresa Bergstrom
Dunedin Highland Middle
Dr. B. is a wonderful teacher who encourages her students to strive for greatness. She makes learning history fun. She has the most students win every year at the county, state and even national level for national history day projects. She truly cares about her students and gets excited for them. She supports them after school hours and during winter break, connects alumni to help current students, and even plans meetups at the library to help them with their projects.
Dr. B continues to support her students even when they've moved on to high school. She truly is an amazing teacher and deserving of all the awards and accolades. There isn't enough space to write all the wonderful things she does for her students.

Sarabeth Phoebe
Elisa Nelson Elementary
Sarabeth Phoebe is the kind of teacher every child dreams of having in third grade. She brings a rare blend of warmth, expertise, and genuine passion that transforms her classroom into a safe, inspiring, and academically rich environment. Her students feel seen, supported, and motivated to reach their fullest potential.
Mrs. Phoebe has an exceptional gift for serving gifted learners while ensuring that every child receives the personalized support they need to thrive. Her instruction is hands-on, and inquiry-driven. Students collaborate, engage in meaningful tasks, and develop critical thinking skills that reach far beyond the curriculum.
Her dedication to student success extends well beyond the school day. She runs the third-grade Extended Learning Program after school, providing targeted ELA support to students who need additional time and guidance. Her consistency, planning, and willingness to offer extra hours demonstrate her commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to grow.
Her instructional excellence yields impressive results. Last year, under her leadership, third-grade ELA proficiency increased from 88% to 91%, one of the highest proficiency rates in Pinellas County Schools. This growth reflects her strategic teaching, focused interventions, and belief that every student can achieve excellence.
She also elevates student engagement through innovative learning experiences. As the organizer of the third-grade capstone project, “Energy Robots,” she leads students through a multidisciplinary, hands-on exploration of energy types, robot design, adaptability to environments, and narrative writing. This project ignites creativity, integrates science and ELA, and gives students a memorable, empowering opportunity to apply what they’ve learned.
Mrs. Phoebe is not only a phenomenal classroom teacher—she is a schoolwide leader who shapes and strengthens the culture of Elisa Nelson Elementary. As the Lead Mentor, she supports teachers during their first, second, and third years in the profession, guiding them through instructional strategies, classroom management, professional expectations, and student-centered practices. She also voluntarily mentors more experienced teachers who are new to the school, ensuring they feel supported, welcomed, and confident as they join the culture of excellence.
She extends her leadership even further by sharing new knowledge with her colleagues. After attending the National Association for Gifted Children Conference in Pittsburgh, she brought back cutting-edge strategies, resources, and insights—then trained the rest of the staff so the entire school could benefit from what she learned. This selfless commitment to continuous growth and schoolwide improvement exemplifies her dedication to both professional learning and community success.
As the third-grade team leader, she fosters collaboration, unity, and a shared commitment to high expectations. Her colleagues describe her as the “calm in the storm”—steady, thoughtful, and always willing to help.
Her leadership strengthens the entire school community. She inspires teachers, elevates instruction, and ensures that students remain at the heart of every decision.
Mrs. Phoebe embodies the qualities of an influential, reliable, impassioned, selfless, and humble educator. She gives her best every day—for her students, her colleagues, and her school. Her impact is profound: she moves academic achievement forward, cultivates curiosity and confidence in students, and uplifts the professional community around her.
She is, without question, the kind of educator who makes public education exceptional.

Antonio Eberhardt-Taylor
Bayside High
Mr. Taylor is a phenomenal educator, counselor, disciplinarian, and role model for young people. Bayside High is a dedicated dropout prevention school, serving students who have not succeeded in other schools. Most have very difficult backgrounds and living environments and they generally don't like school, and yet, they love Mr. Taylor! Building and maintaining strong relationships with our students requires a balance of specialized skills, compassion, and sincerity. Mr. Taylor excels not only in building personalized relationships but also in creating long-term bonds, a feat that would be impossible among streetwise youth if he was anything less than authentic. Mr. Taylor is in inexhaustible in supporting our staff, our students, and their families in too many ways to list, always generous with his resources and with his heart. His work is constant throughout the school day and it continues well beyond, but he never quits on kids--especially when it seems they're quitting on themselves. Every school should have someone so valuable, but only Bayside High has the great fortune of claiming "Taylor," the real deal!
Mr. Taylor goes above and beyond with our student body. He builds relationships and works with families to get students to school and keep them in school. He spends hours outside the school day on the phone and making home visits to keep students motivated to be in school and complete their courses. He truly is an outstanding educator.

Natalee Cleveland
Disston Academy
I am honored to nominate my friend and former coworker Natalee Cleveland for the Irish 31 Pub House & Eatery Teacher Award.
She is the true definition of dedication—a devoted wife, mother, educator, coach, and friend. For several years, she has served as a math teacher at Disston Academy, where she has made a positive and lasting impact on both her students and colleagues.
Many educators shy away from working in alternative school settings due to concerns about discipline challenges and low student motivation. It takes a special kind of teacher to embrace this environment and see students not for their current circumstances, but for their potential. She does exactly that. She meets her students where they are and consistently reminds them that they are capable of growth, success, and a brighter future.
I have personally watched her in action. She differentiates her lessons creatively, making math relevant, relatable, and engaging for students who may otherwise feel disconnected from school. Her ability to build relationships while maintaining high expectations is truly inspiring.
Beyond the classroom, her commitment continues. She coaches track, tutors part-time, and still manages to be fully present for her own children, who are athletes themselves. She rarely misses their practices and never misses a game—demonstrating the same level of dedication to her family that she gives to her students.
Her passion, resilience, and selflessness make her an exceptional educator and role model. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly nominate her for the Irish 31 Teacher Award.
Natalee is a committed educator, wife, mom, friend and more. As a past college athlete, she continues that winning spirit daily as she prepares lessons for her students, encouraging them to succeed. She is an effective teacher who holds rigorous standards while providing support for many students who lack positive role models in their lives. Her lessons are extremely impactful, as she challenges her students to strive to be their best daily.
Natalee uses her coaching skills to help plan engaging strategies that compell students to overcome insecurities and self doubts. Disston Academy is comprised of students who are behind in subject areas who need direction and much one on one attention to turn around deficits.
Natalee works diligently into the night planning lessons that boost moral and motivates each student based on their individual goals and character, providing an opportunity for academic success and a nurturing environment, allowing students to get back on track for graduation and achieve success in their future endeavors.
She is a talented teacher who works well with students and her colleagues. Natalee enjoys working with her students and takes pride in helping them be the best that they can be.

Joshua Jeffries
Pinellas Park Middle
Mr. Jeffries exemplifies what it means to serve a community with passion, dedication, and heart. As a middle school English Language Arts teacher at Pinellas Park Middle School, he has transformed not only classrooms, but lives.
Mr. Jeffries entered education as a second career, transitioning from serving others as a paramedic to shaping young minds as a teacher. When our school took a chance on hiring a paramedic with a creative writing degree, we hoped for potential — what we received was extraordinary. Year after year, he has proven himself to be the true “diamond of the season,” combining real-world experience, creativity, and compassion in ways that deeply resonate with middle school students.
His impact extends far beyond the classroom. Mr. Jeffries founded the school’s Dungeons & Dragons Club, providing students with a space to build literacy, collaboration, and confidence through imaginative storytelling. He sponsors the National Junior Honor Society, guiding students in scholarship, leadership, and service. He also coordinates the Scripps Spelling Bee, celebrating academic excellence and encouraging students to challenge themselves. In addition, he tutors students every morning, ensuring that no child who needs support goes without it.
Most importantly, Mr. Jeffries creates inclusive spaces where students do not simply feel safe and supported — they feel seen, valued, and pushed to become the very best versions of themselves. He builds authentic relationships, holds high expectations, and models perseverance and integrity.
Mr. Jeffries embodies public service in its truest form. His work reflects a commitment not only to education, but to the future of our community. He is more than deserving of this recognition.

Joseph Smolek
Sexton Elementary
Some teachers simply teach a subject… and then there are teachers like Mr. Joseph Smolek, who truly change lives.
Mr. Smolek first met RaeLynn during her third grade year, at a time when she was struggling in some areas of her academics and, more importantly, struggling with her confidence in herself. School didn’t always come easy for her, and like many kids, that began to make her doubt what she was capable of.
But Mr. Smolek saw something in RaeLynn that she hadn’t quite seen in herself yet.
He went above and beyond to help guide her, encourage her, and support her. Through patience, dedication, and genuine care, he helped her begin to believe that she could succeed. Slowly but surely, RaeLynn began reaching goals that once felt out of reach, and with every small victory her confidence grew stronger.
We were incredibly blessed that during her fourth grade year, RaeLynn had the opportunity to be in Mr. Smolek’s class again. Under his continued guidance, she has made tremendous progress academically and personally, and the growth we’ve seen in her has been nothing short of amazing.
What makes Mr. Smolek so special is that RaeLynn’s story is not unique—every student who walks into his classroom feels seen, supported, and valued. In fact, every student wants to be in his class. He creates an environment that kids genuinely want to be in, a place where they feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn. My daughter truly loves walking into his classroom every single day, and as a parent there is nothing more reassuring than knowing your child is excited to go to school because of the teacher leading the room.
The time and effort he pours into each of his students’ education is truly unmatched. Mr. Smolek leads in a way I have never seen before. His students not only want to succeed for themselves, but they carry themselves in a way that shows they never want to disappoint him. They represent him with pride and work hard because they genuinely want to make him proud—and that speaks volumes about the respect and admiration they have for him.
Beyond the classroom, he continues to give even more of himself to his students. From opening a flag football team for both boys and girls at the school, to offering tutoring and extra help whenever students need it, he constantly creates opportunities for kids to grow, belong, and succeed.
He doesn’t do it for recognition.
He does it because he truly cares.
Teachers like Mr. Smolek remind us that education isn’t just about grades and lessons—it’s about building confidence, shaping character, and helping children realize their potential.
For RaeLynn and so many other students, Mr. Smolek has been more than just a teacher. He has been a mentor, a motivator, and someone who believed in them before they fully believed in themselves.
And that is the true definition of a selfless teacher.
We are forever grateful for the impact he has made in RaeLynn’s life and in the lives of so many other students. Teachers like Mr. Smolek deserve to be recognized and celebrated, because the difference they make lasts far beyond the classroom.

Jose Eduardo Carvajal
Richard O Jacobson Technical High
Mr. Carvajal teaches Veterinary Assisting at Jacobson Technical High School. He goes above and beyond to provide students with support and experiences that will help them earn their Certified Veterinary Assisting certification. Mr. C.'s students complete 250 hours of internship in a Veterinary Office and he equips them with the skills they need to be successful. He is responsible for showing students how to care for the animals on our campus (4 horses, 6 cows, 7 goats, 1 pig, lots of rabbits and birds as well as the dogs and cats that we work with from Pinellas County Animal Services each week). He leads the largest FFA chapter in Pinellas County and his students compete showing rabbits and dairy heifers at the Florida State Fair each year. He has produced a number of state finalists and it is no surprise because he is simply the best at what he does. In an age where everything is electronic and digital, Mr. C. is fostering a generation of students who work with their hands, care for animals, battle the elements of weather and heat, and provide a better and healthier life for themselves and the animals under their care. We say CHEERS! to Mr. Carvajal for all that he does for our students, our school, our 4-legged friends, and our community.

Jennifer Jakubzak-Riccitelli
Clearwater High
I have long believed that the most powerful leaders are not always the loudest ones. They are the people who show up every day, do the hard work with care and intention, and change lives in ways that may never make headlines but matter deeply and last forever. Jennifer Jakubzak Riccitelli is one of those leaders.
Jennifer understands that education is about far more than academics. It is about dignity. It is about possibility. It is about making sure every child knows that they are seen, valued, and capable of more than they might imagine. In her classroom and throughout her school community, she creates an environment where students feel safe to grow, to ask questions, to fail, and to try again.
Her influence extends well beyond her students. Jennifer is a steady, reliable presence for her colleagues and families, a person others turn to not because she seeks recognition, but because she consistently leads with integrity and grace. She strengthens school culture by modeling empathy, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right, even when it is not easy.
Jennifer’s passion for her students is evident in every interaction. She holds high expectations, not as a form of pressure, but as an expression of belief. She understands that when young people know someone truly believes in them, they begin to believe in themselves. That belief changes trajectories.
What makes Jennifer exceptional is her humility. She does this work not for praise or accolades, but because she knows it matters. She serves quietly, supports generously, and lifts others without asking for anything in return. Her impact is felt in the confidence of her students, the trust of her colleagues, and the strength of the community she helps build.
Jennifer Jakubzak Riccitelli represents the very best of public service. She is influential without seeking influence, reliable without recognition, impassioned without ego, selfless in action, and deeply humble in spirit. She reminds us that when we invest in our children with intention and care, we are shaping not just their futures, but the future of our communities.
That is work worth celebrating.
Ms. J is a kind, caring, and giving teacher. She not only cares about her students but her community as a whole. She is the sponser of Interact club, which is a club to volunteer and support different locations in the community, she works for a homeless shelter, all while being a teacher and a graduate student at FGCU. Ms. J is the best teacher I have ever had.

Analiese Cook
Reddick Elementary
It is with great pride and deep appreciation that I nominate our school social worker, Analiese Cook, at Reddick Elementary. Analiese goes above and beyond every single day to support our students, staff, and families, and her impact reaches far beyond the walls of our school building. Her work is rooted in compassion, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring every child and family feels supported, valued, and cared for.
At the heart of her work is a genuine love for our students. She plays a critical role in helping students manage their emotions and behaviors by teaching them practical strategies to regulate, reflect, and grow. For many students, she is a trusted adult and a safe place. A calm, reassuring presence they can turn to when life feels overwhelming. Because of her, countless students are better equipped to succeed both academically and socially. She meets each child where they are, offering patience, empathy, and encouragement, and she never gives up on them.
Her dedication to families is equally remarkable. During the holiday season, she organizes donated Christmas gifts to provide entire families with full Christmas bundles. These efforts ensure that families who may otherwise go without are able to experience joy, dignity, and togetherness during the holidays. This is not a small undertaking, yet she coordinates it seamlessly, always with humility and a heart focused on serving others.
As our Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Ambassador, Analiese works tirelessly to strengthen the connection between school and home. She helps organize family nights that provide not only meaningful opportunities for engagement, but also critical resources such as food, clothing, and community support. She actively seeks out partnerships with local organizations, collecting food donations and assembling take-home food kits for families before long breaks so students do not face food insecurity when school is not in session. Her proactive approach ensures that families feel supported year-round, not just in moments of crisis.
Analiese is also a fierce advocate for our most vulnerable families. She works closely with our homeless families to help them access resources, navigate systems, and find stability during incredibly challenging times. She does this work quietly and consistently, always with respect and compassion, ensuring families feel seen rather than judged.
Beyond her formal role, she is always willing to help wherever she is needed on campus. Whether supporting staff in responding to student behaviors, assisting with school events, or stepping in during busy or difficult moments, she does so with a positive attitude and a generous spirit. Her kindness is constant, her positivity contagious, and her presence a gift to our entire school community.
Simply put, Analiese embodies what it means to serve others. Reddick Elementary is a stronger, more compassionate place because of her. We are incredibly thankful and truly blessed to have her as part of our Reddick family, and so are the students and families whose lives she touches every day.

Julie Snyder
Robinson Elementary
Julie Snyder is a tireless advocate for children of farmworkers and a powerful force for equity, opportunity, and hope. Through her work, Julie ensures that students who face significant barriers are not only supported, but truly seen, valued, and positioned to succeed both academically and personally.
Julie goes beyond identifying needs—she builds bridges. She consistently connects students and families to critical resources that directly impact academic success, including securing scholarships through the Hillsborough Education Foundation—13 scholarships awarded last year alone—and ensuring students have access to laptops for use at home. These efforts remove obstacles that too often limit opportunity and instead open doors to achievement, confidence, and possibility.
Understanding that success extends beyond academics, Julie intentionally creates enriching experiences that allow students to feel included, celebrated, and connected to their community. She collaborates with partner organizations to provide meaningful opportunities such as attending a carnival hosted at Christ the King, a basketball game and Christmas party at Jesuit, and participating in the Gasparilla Children’s Parade. These experiences—often out of reach for the families she serves—foster joy, belonging, and lasting memories while reinforcing that these students deserve the same opportunities as their peers. When asked why she does this work, Julie’s face lights up with a smile as she simply says, “It makes me happy to see them happy.”
Most notably, for the past six years, Julie has coordinated an extraordinary, life-changing effort for migrant families in need. Through her leadership and collaboration, she brings together students from Academy of the Holy Names and community volunteers to complete a full mobile home makeover for families each year. This project goes far beyond a physical transformation—it restores dignity, stability, and hope. Julie’s ability to mobilize partners, inspire service, and center the needs of families exemplifies her deep commitment to service and her belief in the power of community.
Julie Snyder’s work is compassion in action and leadership at its finest. She does not wait for systems to change—she changes lives by bringing people together, removing barriers, and creating opportunities where none previously existed. Her leadership is measured not only by the resources she secures or the experiences she creates, but by the trust she builds with families and the hope she instills in students. Julie’s unwavering commitment to children of farmworkers and her ability to turn empathy into meaningful, sustainable impact make her exceptionally deserving of this award. I am honored to work alongside Julie and to witness the profound difference she makes every day—she is truly a leader who serves with heart, purpose, and lasting impact.

Amanda Allen
Durant High
I am honored to nominate Amanda Allen for the Cheers to Public Service Award because she embodies what it means to be Influential, Reliable, Impassioned, Selfless, and Humble in every sense of the word.
Amanda currently serves as an ACCESS teacher at the high school level, but her impact began long before students entered those doors. Having previously worked in the elementary schools many of her students attended, she enters high school already knowing the families, understanding their histories, and carrying trusted relationships with her. That continuity is rare and powerful. For families navigating exceptional education services, she is not just a teacher — she is a steady presence.
Her classroom is more than a learning space; it is a safe haven. Students who are not even on her roster choose to eat lunch in her room because they feel safe, respected, and understood. That speaks volumes about her character and the culture she creates.
Beyond her students, Amanda supports teachers, paraprofessionals, and families daily. She mentors staff, guides compliance, answers questions long after school hours, and often sacrifices her own time to ensure students receive the services they deserve. She leads without ego and serves without seeking recognition.
Amanda’s impact is felt in hallways, homes, and hearts. She does not just teach curriculum — she builds confidence, dignity, and belonging. Our school community is stronger because of her.

Jamie Dickinson
Florida Virtual
I would like to nominate my Grade 11 Probability and Statistics teacher, Mrs. Dickinson, as a world class educator for the Irish 31 Cheers to Public Service Award.
From our very first introduction, Mrs. Dickinson’s positivity and enthusiasm have been contagious. I take math through FLVS because it is one of my more challenging subjects, and FLVS allows me the opportunity to work at my own pace while also benefiting from one-on-one interaction with my teacher. I have had many great teachers through FLVS, but Mrs. Dickinson has truly been a stand-out.
Mrs. Dickinson’s encouragement, patience, and her generosity with her time and instruction have directly contributed to my improvement in math throughout the year. She consistently made the material relatable to real-life situations, which helped me better understand the concepts and, surprisingly, enjoy math more than I ever have! Mrs. Dickinson’s support and dedication have made a lasting impact on my confidence and success in this subject.
Mrs. Dickinson kept me motivated throughout the year with encouraging text messages and consistently kept me informed about additional tutoring opportunities and extra practice materials available to support my learning.
This past year has been especially challenging for me, as I underwent two separate surgeries for a full spinal fusion. I needed to take a short break from my education while I was in the hospital, but Mrs. Dickinson made sure we had a clear plan in place so I would not fall behind and could still complete my lessons in a timely manner. Her compassion, flexibility, and unwavering belief in my ability to succeed kept me motivated and focused during a very difficult time.
Mrs. Dickinson has made a tremendous impact on my life, both academically and personally, and I will truly miss being in her class during my final year of high school.

Katelin Rowlands
Leto High
Ms. Rowlands has an extraordinary ability to reach students from all backgrounds. She sees potential where others might see disinterest, struggle, or uncertainty. Many students walk into her class unsure of themselves, some disengaged from school altogether, and others quietly dealing with personal challenges. Ms. Rowlands meets them exactly where they are , with patience, humor, and unwavering belief.
She goes far beyond the curriculum. She spends countless hours outside of class helping students care for animals, prepare for competitions, complete certifications, or simply talk through their goals and worries. Students know her door is always open. She remembers their aspirations, checks in on their wellbeing, and celebrates their wins, whether that’s mastering a difficult skill, gaining confidence, or deciding on a career path.
For many students, Ms. Rowlands is the reason they discover a passion for agriculture, veterinary science, or animal care. She doesn’t just teach content; she shows students how these subjects connect to real careers, real communities, and real impact. Graduates at Leto often credit her with helping them choose pathways into farming, animal science, veterinary nursing, environmental work, or further study, paths they never thought were possible before entering her classroom.

Mrs. Rodriguez is my son’s fourth grade teacher, and in every sense she embodies what an exceptional educator should be. The positive impact she has made on her students, their families, and our school community is profound and lasting.
Mrs. Rodriguez goes above and beyond the traditional classroom role. She brings genuine care, creativity, and passion to her teaching every day. She takes the time to know each child as an individual, their strengths, their interests, their challenges, and their dreams. This creates a classroom environment where every student feels seen, valued, and encouraged to grow.
Communication with parents is another area where Mrs. Rodriguez truly shines. She goes out of her way to keep families informed, involved, and supported. Whether it is sharing classroom updates, student progress, or ways to reinforce learning at home, she builds a strong partnership between school and family that helps every child succeed.
Mrs. Rodriguez also brings learning to life through hands on and meaningful experiences. She regularly incorporates STEM projects into her classroom, allowing students to explore, create, and think critically in ways that go far beyond a textbook. One of the most memorable experiences she provides is teaching her students about life cycles by allowing them to witness eggs being fertilized and chickens being hatched. The students even get to name the chicks, making the learning personal, exciting, and unforgettable.
These types of experiences are exactly what sets great teachers apart. They create moments that students will remember forever while building curiosity, responsibility, and a love for learning.
Mrs. Rodriguez is not only an exceptional teacher, she is a wonderful human being. Her kindness, dedication, and passion for her students shine through in everything she does. She has made a lasting impact on my son and so many other children, and our family is incredibly grateful for her.
It is an honor to nominate Mrs. Rodriguez for the Irish 31 Nominated Teacher Award. She truly represents the very best of what a teacher can be

Sue has dedicated 37 years to teaching in Hillsborough County, including 25 years at Sickles High School, where she has made a lasting impact on students both inside and outside the classroom. In addition to teaching high-level mathematics, Sue organizes and sponsors multiple student clubs, including Mu Alpha Theta and CARE (Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education), a student-founded organization supporting families impacted by cancer.
This mission became deeply personal for Sue when she was diagnosed with Stage II uterine cancer last year. Determined to put her students first, she scheduled multiple surgeries over the summer to minimize time away from the classroom. Despite being hospitalized during the second week of school due to an infection, Sue remained committed to her students, ensuring their academic needs were met even while she was hospitalized.
Now cancer-free, Sue continues to inspire her students and colleagues with her resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence as she prepares her students for their AP exams. Sue truly exemplifies what it means to be an educator who leads with heart.
