I submitted once before, but an error came up so I don't know if submission went through.
I was asked to coach a youth hockey u12 team at FL. Hospital Center Ice, FHCI, when I was registering my son three years ago at the new ice rink, FHCI, I've never coached ice hockey but I coached women's volleyball, high school, for over 15 years and I played in a beer league hockey team. I asked a buddy that played on my team that is a veteran and was a former high school football coach to help the first weekend. Zach came out the first weekend, and he now has been coaching with me for the last three years. He does this without pay or compensation, and his oldest son is two years old, so he isn't coaching his children.
He has been critical to the development of young youth hockey players in Wesley Chapel, and I could not have done this without him. We have won championships and have now moved up to coaching u14/16. Other coaches are jealous that I have such a great coach that keeps coming out and loves the sport and the kids.
Zach and I helped to build a development program for kids to play pick-up hockey and our job is to make sure the game doesn't get too rough, but the pick-up is essential because it let players play, no coaching and no drills just fun!
I coach because my son is a player and I love the sport. Zach coaches because he loves working with young players and teaching them life skills.
