My wife is currently in her 7th year teaching with six of those years at the same school. She was a cheer coach for three years at both the middle and high school and in the last two years let that position go so that she could pursue her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She has spent countless hours supporting students at sports after school and on weekends. She has given up time and money to convert her classroom to flexible seating because she takes the time to get o k kw her students and knows that desk were not working. She gives up some of her summer selflessly to help hand place every student with teachers who based on previous scores diagnostics and feedback from previous teachers will push them and support them in such a critical moment in their educational journeys. She participates in every interview for new teachers coming into positions because she wants to ensure that her "babies" are getting the best! She is always reading and researching new strategies and conducting book clubs at work in order to help push other teachers to continue developing their craft. She does this all with a smile and when asked why she does what she does her response is always something along the lines of "Equity in education lies in the opportunities in which students are given. If we want to close the "opportunity" gap because that's what it is then we need teachers and a school that are willing to be relentless in their pursuit to provide this no matter what."
