Dennis has been wrestling since he was a child in Hillsborough County. After graduating college he became a wrestling coach up in Tallahassee around the year 2000. He has coached wrestling, volleyball and soccer. Many of his wrestlers have been region and district champions, state placers, and a State Champion or two. While all of that is impressive to me, it is what he does outside of completion that means the most. Dennis works with his kids daily to instill character, humility, and service to others. He teaches the boys to become leaders and gentlemen. He speaks to them about doing the right thing and working together to create a positive atmosphere.
He is also a physical education teacher. I consider this part of his coaching job. He looks at it as his "life coaching" job. If you look around his classroom he has character words such as honesty, leadership, humble, service, and reaching goals. He creates relationships with students and meets them where they are. He truly reaches out to students and wants them to walk out of his classroom or off the mat better people than when they first arrived. He takes the time to listen to their issues and help them with life situations.
