Do you know what inspiration is? Inspiration is a process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative according to Dictionary.com. Well, that’s exactly what my ‘Favorite Teacher’ inflicts upon me and continues to pour into students whom she encounters. As an athlete, who is always thirsty for the challenge, the win, I look to Mrs. Coad for direction, inspiration, and a little cover-blocking if needed. Her tenacity and purposely-delayed wit make reading things of past seem new causing our minds to experience the events as if they were happening at that moment. She creates a visual picture of everything so that we see events before us and if that doesn’t work, she won’t stop at turning the classroom into a ‘Live Theater.’ In football, a tight-end is an offensive lineman who lines up close to the tackle “split out” like a wide receiver and catch the ball. A tight end multitasks and switches roles to reach the endpoint, the goal. Mrs. Coad is just that, a multitasking tight end. If there was ever a time I needed my tight end, it was during the times I suffered the ill effects of Autoimmune issues prompting various treatments and procedures. Having the support of Mrs. Coad in and out of the classroom certainly gave me the encouragement I needed to do my best at my worst. I am forever thankful for my tight end in Mrs. Coad. I have committed myself to positively impacting as many lives as I can just as my tight end has impacted me.
