Amy Ragg teaches Girls History at Academy Prep Center of Tampa (APT). APT is a rigorous private middle school for students qualifying for need-based scholarships in Tampa, Florida. APT students attend school 11 hours a day, 6 days a week, 11 months a year. Academic classes are taught separately by gender. The school is dedicated to educating economically-disadvantaged students by providing an academically challenging, enriching and structured environment followed by eight years of support and guidance through high school and college. Alumni boast a 99% high school graduation rate. Most students enter APT below grade level and graduate APT two years above grade level.
Amy is committed and dedicated to the students and mission of APT. Not only does she help her students gain academic knowledge, but she is helping them become well rounded individuals. Amy's classroom is full of bright colored posters reminding students to relax and be grateful. She also leads a yoga class - helping students harmonize the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing techniques
T’Niya's, a 5th grader, preferred academic class is history taught by Ms. Ragg. The students are currently learning about the American Revolution and the lives of our Founding Fathers. Anais, 6th grader, says "Ms. Ragg talks a lot about mindfulness and gratitude. She helps me relax, and because I feel more relaxed I am able to focus and learn more easily.”
